Wearable Art: A Nod to Other Artists-Part 2
Olaknitting Art's creative, upcycled items can be found on Facebook, and include many items that are given new life with bursts of colour. Our first meeting was almost a year ago in a store full of silk scarves (I couldn't help myself, of course!), and we've kept in touch through discussing and sharing the fullness and richness of an art-filled life. We have exchanged our creations with each other, while learning more about the other's respective gifts. Who knows? We may even start a bartering collective. Pictured here are two cowls I received this week in exchange for my one-of-a-kind, hand-dyed rainbow kanoko shibori silk scarf. Her cowls have been up cycled from sweaters (the eggplant-coloured one is merino wool), and hand-embroidered. Can't wait to wear them! And if you look closely at the colours embroidered into the eggplant cowl, they're reminiscent of the Culture Days colours!
