Switching It Up

Sometimes it's nice to take that other fork in the road and see what's down there. Thanks to a Mom that had many creative interests, I delved into lots of different styles of art. I've always liked the warmth of wood and in my teens I decided to attempt pyrography. I found it very satisfying as the result was immediate. It also forced me to slow down and learn patience.

Throughout my life I've stopped and started with pyrography and this week, I thought I'd start up again. There is a Christmas Card juried exhibit coming up, so I made a piece that is pyrography and pastel on a rough cedar plank. I have to admit that there was a bit of aromatherapy happening as I burned into the cedar!

The piece should be unique in the submissions for the juried exhibit - fingers crossed!
