Summer Shows and a Year of Creating
It's been almost a year since I decided to spend more time concentrating on my visual arts practice. Even though we all know that when you put time and effort into a project, you usually get results, I'm pleasantly surprised as well as pleased with the ongoing fruits of my labour.
Opportunities to exhibit are continuing in the summer. At the end of June, I was showing in three galleries: the Built World Around Us juried photography exhibit at the Surrey Arts Centre (still on until August 17th); Traces - another juried photography exhibit at the Fort Gallery in Fort Langley - finished on June 30; and Out of the Chrysalis 2 at the Crescent Beach pop up gallery from June 24 to July 9. Later in August, Artswest will have their member exhibit in the Surrey Arts Centre that will run until November, for which I'll contribute one piece on a nature theme.
Upcoming, is submitting to Paint the Train 2.0 by the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway, another juried exhibit, in which I'd received my first honourable mention award in 2018.
Looking ahead to the Christmas season, I've been accepted into the Harris Barn Show & Sale, happening on November 2 & 3.
I'd like to express my appreciation to my husband, Steve, who has been immensely supportive in words and deeds this past year
as well as encouragement from the rest of my family including my daughters Sarah, Elisabeth and Rebekah and my sister-in-law, Jan, an amazing artist in her own right. Much support has also come from the arts community and co-workers.
I am very lucky and pleased to both work and live in the arts.
