Celebrating a Local, Artist-Supporting Business: La Belle Fleur Floral Boutique
Tracy Bell, owner of La Belle Fleur Floral Boutique in Surrey, BC, has been part of my family's life for the past two decades. Of course, the expected floral purchases and special occasion posies happened; birthdays, our wedding vow renewal (silk flowers from my original bouquet were made into boutonnieres and mini corsages), single long-stemmed roses for my Mom's viewing, and all of our three daughters' grad corsages. The special part of all those milestones, is that Tracy and all her wonderful staff took the time to get to know us - and I believe care about our life events - with grace, empathy, humour and love.
Recently, my hand-dyed silk scarves have been available for sale at La Belle Fleur. Tracy had suggested bringing them in, as they sell other beautiful gift items, such as jewelry, greeting cards, and candles to name a few. Many pieces are made by local artisans; as an artist herself, Tracy knows very well the importance of supporting local art!
The community also loves having this gem in their community; Tracy and La Belle Fleur have been recipients of numerous awards over the years. If you've been there, it's very easy to see why they've accumulated the accolades.
La Belle Fleur is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. I wanted to acknowledge this milestone in their history by getting something for them, but flowers seemed redundant... I did have a mixed media piece that was made for an exhibit called "Just Flowers', so it is now their anniversary gift. It seemed appropriate and at the same time such a small recognition for all that Tracy, her staff and La Belle Fleur has meant to my family.
